Library Scavenger Hunt

8/29/2016

3rd grade spent their 1st visit back in the library this year on a scavenger hunt.  In partners, they browsed around the library looking for cards with items we can find in our library. For example,  "B is for Barcode" or "C is for Cookbooks, 641.5". This year, they used a Google Form on our NOOK eReaders to fill in their answers. At the end, we could all come back together, each pair hit "submit" and with my device connected to the TV monitor, we could review our results all together. I liked how we could see collective results. Successful partners saw their successes up on the screen; partners who missed something were not called out, but saw the answers that others found.  Not transformative, but it was a motivating and engaging way to get familiar with the library for the new year. I liked that it encouraged the students to be actively engaged in their own learning.
